Green smoothies are a great option if you want to ingest more fruit and veggies in a less boring way. They are usually very easy to make and turn out to be super tasty. Plus, homemade green smoothies are much cheaper than those “detox-drinks” you can buy at the store. It’s a win-win.
Eating enough servings of fruit and vegetables can often be a challenge for most of us. The USDA recommends having 2 to 4 daily fruit servings, and three to five servings of vegetables. Green smoothies are a great way of fulfilling your day to day needs, and at the same time enjoy doing so.
The purple smoothie
This smoothie will satisfy both your fruit and veggie needs, and will, at the same time, taste absolutely delicious. It combines the freshness of basil with the sweetness of blueberries, creating the perfect mix!
You just have to blend together one cup of blueberries, with some basil leaves, spinach leaves and a frozen banana. Lastly, add some unsweetened almond milk and you’ll have your delicious purple drink. Enjoy!
The After Eight smoothie
This green smoothie mimics the oh-so-famous After Eight chocolates we all love so much. The delightful mix of dark chocolate with mint just has us in awe. However, it’s not exactly the healthiest snack, which is why this smoothie is great news!
Throw some organic spinach, half an avocado, one scoop chocolate protein powder (to your liking), some fresh mint or just a drop of mint extract, dark chocolate chips, stevia, unsweetened almond milk, and filtered water into a blender, and blend at high-speed.
Blend the mix until you obtain a thick, homogeneous smoothie, and voilà, ready to drink. A nice option is throwing in some ice too, but that’s totally up to you.
The pink smoothie
This one is a super creative smoothie; you’ll see how you won’t have tried anything like it. It’s actually a pink smoothie rather than a green one, but it’s still incredibly healthy.
Blend together at high-speed some chopped red chard, some almond milk, apple juice, pure vanilla extract, and ground ginger. You can also add some ice if you like your smoothies to be fresher. Add some sweetener of choice if you have more of a sweet tooth, and some protein powder if you want it to be part of your fitness routine.
The Green Smoothie
The Green Smoothie is the ultimate smoothie. There won’t be any smoothie that’s more typical than this one, but we had to include it because it’s just so good. Combine some raw baby spinach, half a green apple (with skin), one peeled kiwi, and a cucumber.
Throw the ingredientes into a blender through lemon juice, and make sure you blend the mix until the ingredients are completely fused. If needed, you can add some water to help with the blending process. Once you’re done, pour in some sparkling water on top, and stir it well. That’s it! You’re ready to enjoy you green smoothie.
