More and more we hear about vitamin C being essential to our diets, be it for great skin or just our overall inner health. However, the problems with this particular vitamin is that human bodies don’t produce it on their own, which is why we need a reminder from time to time to have a glass of fresh orange juice to boost our vitamin intake.
By now, you must have heard about how amazing vitamin C is, but have you made sure you know why? If you haven’t, we give you the reasons why you should up your vitamin intake. You will obtain great results!
Vitamin C for weight loss
You should increase your intake if you are trying to lose weight. The reason behind it is that if you have an insufficiency your weight loss becomes hindered. In other words, if your body doesn’t have enough vitamin C it will not burn as much fat as if it had the right percentage.
The reason this vitamin is responsible for efficient fat burning is that its functions have to do with your energy levels: it regulates fat oxidation, and both your energy input and output.
It makes you less prone to suffering from cardiovascular diseases
Several studies have come to the conclusion that vitamin C helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Apparently, this vitamin helps reduce blood pressure, meaning that chances of having a stroke are reduced.
More in depth, what vitamin C does is it allows blood cells to work properly improving vascular relaxation. This leads to a freer blood flow, and thus, a lower chance of heart disease.
It provides skin-protection
The truth is that we don’t exactly know how vitamin C works skin-relatedly. However, there are studies that do suggest that it can lower risk of melanoma. But although we don’t exactly know how it works, what we do know is that somehow, sunlight and age reduce the vitamin in our skin.
Also, it helps prevent sun spots if applied to the skin in the shape of cream, for example (which is also why it’s a good idea to get a face cream that contains this nutrient).
It’s an amazing cancer-fighter
This one is probably the best benefit vitamin C may have. There are studies that have found that directly introducing vitamin C into one’s blood flow might enhance the effect chemo therapy has. This treatment has not been fully developed yet, however, trials prove it seems to be especially effective on pancreatic cancer. Let’s hope for the best!
