Going into work with a splitting headache after a night out with friends is never fun. Grabbing a greasy cheeseburger might feel like the best decision, but in reality your body will only be even more upset with your life choices. In order to stay healthy and also not regret having a social life, we have come up with a list of healthy foods to help cure your hangover symptoms.
Chicken Broth
A night of drinking too much alcohol can leave your stomach feeling extra queasy the next day. If you don’t think you can keep down anything solid, chicken broth is your best bet. Chicken broth provides your body a way of getting rehydrated, and the sodium helps with replenishing electrolytes. The warm liquid also helps soothe an upset stomach.
Bananas
One of the very best foods to eat to cure a hangover is bananas. This fruit is powerful in providing potassium, magnesium, and fiber, all nutrients that are great for the stomach. Although bananas have more sugar than some other fruits, they are very easy to breakdown and digest. This will keep your stomach happy as you recover from the hangover.
Pickle Juice
Jersey Shore’s Snooki might have been on to something with her pickle obsession… Pickle juice is a great drink when suffering symptoms of a hangover, for it is also high in sodium and potassium. Not only that, but pickle juice is also low calorie and high in vitamins C and E. These vitamins can help with reducing the inflammation that is often caused by too much alcohol as well.
Avocado Toast
Our absolute favorite food on this list by far is avocado toast. Not only do avocados provide lots of potassium to help reverse the effects of dehydration, but the healthy fats can help satiate your cravings for greasy food. While it is typically best to pair avocado with healthy whole grain bread, white bread is better for a queasy stomach. It can help with the nausea and headaches caused by a night of heavy drinking.
